These multi-line displays are often used in programs that share PRODUCTION QUOTA and STATUS with plant employees in an effort to improve COMMUNICATIONS, QUALITY, and PRODUCTIVITY. Such as Lean Manufacturing. These displays have often been used as a part of the Toyota Sewing System (TSS) in the United States.

The AF-2720-101 shows a Running Goal (see How Pace Timers Operate) and an Actual Count from a relay, photo cell, or other input.

• Inputs--Count Up, Reset Goal, Reset Actual (Count Down and Preset available on some models)  "GOAL" set by key pad or Serial communications.  This unit can be controlled by its key pad and simple switches or sensors, or can be updated serially (RS-232 or RS-485) from a computer or plant PLC.  If the unit is controlled by manual input devices, your plant computer or PLC can still access the current data through the unit's data port.
• Input Level--When Operated Manually --Contact Closure, 24VDC, or 120VAC depending on model.
• Enclosure--Constructed from 16 cold rolled steel.  The standard display is suitable for clean environments.  Industrial versions are also available.
• Digit Height--This model is only available in 2.3"digit height.
• Configuration--Comes in 4-digit configuration.  Two lines.
• Overall dims--15" by 11" by 3-5/8"
• Digit Characteristics--Seven segment configuration. 
• LED Color--Comes standard in "high efficiency" RED--top line.  GREEN--bottom line.
• Mounting--Surface mounting.
